Player Centered Sports - Core Moves

At Player Centered Sports, we believe all players should possess a toolkit of core moves when it comes to ball mastery.

 

Our PCS Core Moves are:

Inside Chop

  • Approach ball and raise aim and pull back kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Place non kicking foot to the side of the ball

  • Use the inside of the kicking foot to chop the ball back across your body

  • Rotate hips as 'chopping motion' occurs to allow for next touch to be away from pressure and into space

Outside Hook

  • Approach ball and raise aim and pull back kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Place non kicking foot to the side of the ball

  • Next, place your kicking foot ahead of the ball and use the outside of the foot to hook the ball back

  • Rotate hips as 'hooking motion' occurs to allow for next touch to be away from pressure and into space

Dragback

  • Approach ball and raise aim and pull back kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Place non kicking foot to the side of the ball

  • Next, place the sole of your kicking foot on top of the ball 

  • Then, using the sole of your foot, rotate your hips and drag the ball back to turn 180 degrees (ball moves on the outside of your body before moving the ball into the space ahead 

Conti Turn

  • Approach ball and raise aim and pull back kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Place non kicking foot to the side of the ball

  • Next, place the sole of your kicking foot on top of the ball 

  • Then, using the sole of your foot, rotate your hips and drag the ball back to turn 180 degrees (ball moves across the inside of your body) before moving the ball into the space ahead

Cruyff Turn

  • Approach ball and raise aim and pull back kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Place non kicking foot to the side of the ball

  • Next, use the inside of your kicking foot to hook the ball back behind your standing leg, before moving into the space ahead

Busquets Turn

  • Approach the ball at an angle and raise aim and pull back kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Place non kicking foot to the side of the ball

  • Next, use the sole of your kicking foot to drag the ball back towards your body. As this happens, rotate and open hips.

  • Once the ball has been dragged back towards the center of your body, push the ball forwards with the inside of the same foot to make a v shape with the

Squeeze Turn

  • Approach the ball and raise aim and pull back kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Place non kicking foot to the side of the ball

  • Next, use the sole of your kicking foot to drag the ball back towards your body. 

  • Once the ball has been dragged back behind your standing leg, use the inside of your foot to push the ball sideways (behind standing leg) to exit on the other side of your body

  • Then push the ball forwards into the new space 

Scissors

  • Approach the ball and move one foot around the ball in a anticlockwise direction. 

  • When planting this foot on the other side of the ball, bend that knee to allow for body weight to shift to one side.

  • Then, use your other foot to push to ball to the opposite side and shift body weight to match this movement, before pushing the ball forwards into the new space

Step Over Fake

  • Approach the ball and raise your arm and drawback kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Next, step over the ball with your kicking foot. Your kicking foot will now be planted ahead of the ball (offset at 90 degrees)

  • As you plant your kicking foot, shift your body weight forwards (bend kicking leg knee) to add additional disguise.

  • After this push the ball back with the outside of the same kicking foot and rotate hips to travel back in the direction you originally traveled from.

Stop and Go

  • Approach the ball and raise your arm and drawback kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Next, place the sole of your kicking foot on top of the ball and roll the ball backwards slightly whilst decelerating 

  • Then roll the ball forward with the same foot and accelerate forwards into the space

Iniesta

  • Approach the ball and raise your arm and drawback kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Next, shift the ball from one foot to the other (using the inside of your foot). Whilst doing this, shift your body weight inline with the movement of the ball to help make the movement fluid and quick.

Maradona Turn

  • Approach the ball and raise your arm and drawback kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Next, place your kicking foot onto top of the ball using the sole of your foot. 

  • After this, roll the ball around the outside of your body whilst rotating your hips. 

  • When half way round, jump slightly and transfer the ball from your original foot to the other and continue to rotate your hips to complete a 360 degree turn 

Flipper

  • Approach the ball and place the ball to the side of your body.

  • Next, push the ball away from your body with the outside of your foot.

  • As the ball travels away from your body, use the inside of the same foot to pull the ball back in towards your body.

Shoulder Drop

  • Approach the ball and raise your arm and drawback kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Next, place your kicking foot to the side of the ball and drop your shoulder towards the floor.

  • After this, push the ball with the outside of your other foot whilst lifting your shoulder to it's original position.

  • As pushing the ball with the outside of your foot, you will also change direction.

Side Drag

  • Approach the ball and raise your arm and drawback kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Next, place your kicking foot on top of the ball.

  • After this, drag and roll the ball across your body using the sole of your foot.

  • As the ball travels across your body, take the ball with your other foot to continue dribbling.

Matthews

  • Approach the ball and position the ball to the side of your body.

  • Next, using the inside of your kicking foot,  push the ball in towards your body twice.

  • After you second touch, use the outside of your kicking foot to push the ball away from your body and into a new space. When doing this, look to bend your knees and explode away!

Side Drag with Reverse Step Over

  • Approach the ball and raise your arm and drawback kicking leg to disguise (fake shot)

  • Next, place your kicking foot on top of the ball.

  • After this, drag and roll the ball across your body using the sole of your foot.

  • As the ball travels across your body, step over the ball with your foot and allow the ball to travel through your legs.

  • As the ball travels through your legs, perform a body feint before looking to dribble away into a new space
